Greetings, All!

We are just one day away from this semester’s Career Fair! Hope your resume is polished and you’ve picked out your outfit for tomorrow. If you are running low on energy, swing by the NANO-BME main office for some free coffee and power snacks to get you geared up and ready to do your best when you meet with employers tomorrow. 😊 Don’t forget to check out the employer info sessions happening over the next couple of days as well. (See attached screenshot for details.)

In celebration of Black History Month, check out this article on Influential Black Biomedical Researchers<https://web.iit.edu/pritzker-institute/influential-black-biomedical-researchers>. One of the names on the list is Dr. Patricia Bath. Dr. Bath is famous for her invention of the Laserphaco Probe, which is an important surgical device for cataracts surgeries. She also founded the American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness and served as the chair of the Ophthalmology Residency Training Program (which was the first time a woman had ever held such a position in the U.S.). You can read more about her here<https://lemelson.mit.edu/resources/patricia-bath>.

Also, remember that it’s heart health and cancer prevention awareness month. Check out this article on Why college students need to be more heart health aware<https://wellfleetstudent.com/student-well-being/why-college-students-need-to-be-more-heart-health-aware/> and this scientific article from the Journal of Cancer Education titled Changing college students’ lifestyles in favor of cancer prevention: a case study<https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2641508/>.

There are exciting opportunities for you and fun things happening this week and beyond. Check them out below!
