Dear Sophomores,

I would like to personally welcome you back to South Dakota Mines. I know that last year was not the year you were expecting when you started college. We are hoping to make up for last year with a lot of fun events including celebrating many of our Mines traditions during Rocker Days<https://www.sdsmt.edu/Campus-Life/Student-Activities/Rocker-Days-M-Week/> (September 18-25). As you get settled back into classes, I encourage you to get involved on campus. One of the easiest ways to get involved is by joining a student organization. We have over 120 of them! You can see a complete list of student organizations by visiting Mines Link<https://sdsmt.campuslabs.com/engage>. On Thursday and Friday of this week, we will be hosting our Fall Student Organization Fair on the Campus Quad from 11am-1pm each day. This is a great way to connect with many of our student organizations. If you are still finding it hard to connect with a student organization, I encourage you to fill out our Involvement Quiz<https://sdsmt.campuslabs.com/engage/submitter/form/start/476906>. Once you submit this short questionnaire, my staff and I will provide you with personalized recommendations of student organizations based on your interests. Keep your eye on your email, posters on the ground, and other announcements as we get closer to celebrating Rocker Days, where you will get to experience traditions like Paint the Town, the M-Day Picnic, Whitewashing and sliding down the M, the Bon Fire and Coronation, and if you didn't get a chance to run around the track last year, you are welcome to join the new frosh on their run! If there is anything that I can do to assist in connecting you to campus, don't hesitate to email me or stop by my office in the lower level of the Surbeck Center.
