Announcements & Reminders

* Volunteer Opportunities:
* MEDLIFE is a non-profit organization providing service-learning experiences in Peru, Ecuador, and Tanzania. They make trips over winter break, spring break, and during the summer to accommodate student schedules. See attached flyer or go here<https://my.medlifemovement.org/> for more details.
* Scholarship/Fellowship Opportunities:
* Boren Scholarships (for undergraduates-deadline February 1st, 2023) and Boren Fellowships (for graduate students-deadline January 25th, 2023) are now open. Recipients must work for the federal government for one year after graduation. Learn more by going here<https://www.borenawards.org/>.
* Students/groups interested in applying for the Braun Student Inventor Award (see attached) must submit a signed invention disclosure to the Office of Economic Development by February 28th for consideration. * Applications are now open for applying to the Completing the Dream Scholarship Program (see attachment). This program is for students in good academic standing who are facing challenges with returning/graduating due to an outstanding financial need and/or an emergency situation. The application window is open until all scholarship funds are awarded or until May 31st, 2023.
* Employment/Internship Opportunities:
* The Spring 2023 Career Fair is happening in-person on February 7th

* The University of South Carolina-Columbia is now accepting applications for their NIH-funded summer training program titled, “Big Data Health Science Scholar Program for Infectious Diseases”. To be eligible, you must be at least 1 year into your graduate program and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. * Want to earn your CNA and start working with patients to gain direct patient care experiences? Check out the Nursing Assistant Program that is part of the Rural Health Works Nursing Initiative<https://www.westriversdahec.org/rural-health-works/> run by the WRAHEC to learn how they will cover 100% of the tuition for your 8-week course through Monument Health. (This is a great way to gain clinical experiences, which are required for admission into professional programs in healthcare, such as med school, PA school, etc.)
* Resume Review Week – January 30th-February 3rd.
* Career Fair Preparation Workshop – January 30th at 4PM-5PM in Bump Lounge

* Applications for the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) are now open! SHPEP is a free six-week summer enrichment program for students interested in the health professions. * Career Fair – February 7th & 8th
* Applications for the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry’s Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) are now open! SEP is for any students interested in dental programs and provides educational and professional development experiences to prepare students for future careers in dentistry. This 9-week course offers free housing and DAT prep as well as a stipend and covering travel expenses. * Looking for supplemental clinical shadowing opportunities? Check out HEAL for shadowing 101 courses that are free and happening every Wednesday night.
