Greetings, All!

Hope your first autumn weekend went well and that you enjoyed the many fun Rocker Days events over the past few days. We are so sad (for us) to announce that our program assistant, Leslie, will be moving over to work in Graduate Education starting next week. We are grateful for her outstanding service to our department and we wish her well in her new role! Please come by the office on Friday morning between 10AM and 11AM to congratulate Leslie and to pick up some yummy treats. 😊

Also, if you are looking for a social science elective for the coming Spring 2023 semester, Dr. Kayla Pritchard will be teaching SOC 492 Health and Society, which is a great course for anyone interested in the health professions. (See attachment.)

     *   MEDLIFE is a non-profit organization providing service learning experiences in Peru, Ecuador, and Tanzania.   *   Scholarship/Fellowship Opportunities:
     *   The Barry Goldwater Scholarship application is now open for students pursuing a B.S. in science, math, or engineering who are within their first two years of study. (See attached flyer.) For more information about this scholarship, please reach out to Career Services.
     *   The Gilman and Gilman/DAAD Scholarships for study abroad application deadline is October 6th. You must be a Pell Grant recipient to be eligible. Learn more and apply by going here<https://www.gilmanscholarship.org/program/program-overview/>.
     *   The Gilman-McCain Scholarship for study abroad is available for children/spouses/dependents of active/activated military personnel. The application deadline is October 6th. Learn more and apply by going here<https://www.gilmanscholarship.org/program/gilman-mccain-scholarships/>.
     *   Applications are now open for the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP), which is a fellowship for those planning to pursue a doctorate. New graduate students and senior undergraduate students are eligible for the program.      *   Borean Scholarships (for undergraduates-deadline February 1st, 2023) and Borean Fellowships (for graduate students-deadline January 25th, 2023) are now open.      *   Applications are now open for applying to the Completing the Dream Scholarship Program (see attachment). This program is for students in good academic standing who are facing challenges with returning/graduating due to an outstanding financial need and/or an emergency situation. The application window is open until all scholarship funds are awarded or until May 31st, 2023.
  *   Employment/Internship Opportunities:
