Good Morning, All!

I hope you are all having a fun and relaxing Spring Break! Be sure to engage in some self-care activities<https://www.collegegirlsmarts.com/self-care-activities-college-students/> to help you recharge before you head back to campus next week.

Did you know that Women’s History Month has a theme this year? The theme is Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope. This is a tribute to caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic and to women from cultures around the globe and throughout history who have provided healing and hope. Along those lines, here’s a great article titled, Saints and Sinners: Women and the Practice of Medicine Throughout the Ages<https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/1843228>.

There’s lots happening this week and beyond. Check things out below!

Announcements & Reminders

  * If you are a BME undergraduate student, be sure to…

     * Meet with Dr. J to discuss your career goals & professional development opportunities (Book your appointment here<https://sdsmt.campus.eab.com/pal/NyfnNwlsuF>.)
     * If you are a freshman, you should also meet with your BME hybrid advisor, Chris Roman (Christopher.Roman at sdsmt.edu<mailto:Christopher.Roman at sdsmt.edu>) over in Student Success.
     * At some point this semester, you’ll want to meet with your academic advisor to discuss your Fall 2022 course schedule (Ask Dr. J if you aren’t sure who your academic advisor is!)

     * Introduce yourself to Dr. J if you haven’t already! 😃
  *   Volunteer Opportunities:
     * BME graduate student, Brock Folkers, is looking for participants to take part in a research study exploring how muscle tissue changes its electrical signal as it transitions from rested to fatigue states. If you are interested in participating, or to learn more about the study, please contact Brock (Brock.Folkers at mines.sdsmt.edu<mailto:Brock.Folkers at mines.sdsmt.edu>)
     * MEDLIFE is a non-profit organization providing service learning experiences in Peru, Ecuador, and Tanzania. They make trips over winter break, spring break, and during the summer to accommodate student schedules. See attached flyer or go here<https://my.medlifemovement.org/> for more details.
