In the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, dragons are game changers. During this year’s 35th annual Mathematical Contest in Modeling, students around the world were asked to ponder what would really happen if the massive predators were unleashed on the planet. A team from SD Mines completed a 22-page research paper laying out their mathematical model.

Research Experience for Teachers
Registration Open for June-July Program
SD Mines will again offer the Sustainable Development Research Experience for Teachers program, introducing 6-12 grade science and math teachers to cutting-edge engineering and science research. This National Science Foundation-sponsored program<https://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=505170> gives teachers an opportunity to do research at Mines and develop curriculum based on the experience. Summer Camp Registration Open

SD Mines summer camps are designed to be fun and hands-on, and are for middle and high school students. Most camps last five days and students come here from all over the country to attend. Some camps are free of charge.
