In response to industry’s call for graduates with both STEM and business education, SD Mines is adding a new undergraduate degree for fall of 2019. The Business Management in Technology degree integrates STEM education with business management. The new major is being offered in collaboration with Black Hills State University in Spearfish, but the degree will be issued by SD Mines upon graduation.

STEAM Cafe: Into the Frozen Abyss

In 1845, two ships and 129 men in the Franklin expedition departed Greenland into the unknown with the goal of finding the Northwest Passage. It was into this abyss they would never return. This talk outlines the history, technology, geography, and possible fate of the expedition from the numerous published sources. Bring your warm clothes and hot chocolate as Dr. John Dreyer transports you to the Canadian High Arctic in the golden age of polar exploration.

SD Mines hosts the 2019 Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) Conference. GWIS is an organization that connects, leads, and empowers women in science. Since the first chapter was established in 1921, GWIS has grown to reach women across the United States and the globe. Registration is free for students.

Athletic Camps
Summer 2019
SD Mines offers several summer athletic camps, tournaments, and workshops for a wide range of youth. A number of basketball tournaments and camps take place for varying ages and skill levels from May through late July.

Summer Camp Registration Open

SD Mines summer camps are designed to be fun and hands-on, and are for middle and high school students. Most camps last five days and students come from all over the country to attend. Some camps are free of charge.
