Harvard Business School Collaboration
New Online Program at Mines
Current and prospective South Dakota School of Mines & Technology students can now figure in a Harvard Business School certification to boost their future STEM careers. SD Mines just announced a collaboration with the Harvard Business School to offer the HBX Credential of Readiness business fundamentals program to complement a Mines engineering education.

The Brain Scoop with Emily Graslie
Thursday, March 3
Emily Graslie, a Rapid City native who has reached YouTube stardom as chief curiosity correspondent with Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History, will speak at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 3, in the Surbeck Center ballroom. Her presentation is sponsored by Women in Science and Engineering and the Office of Multicultural Affairs. High school students are encouraged to attend at no charge.

Mountain Pine Beetle Research Presentations
March 2 & March 16
Research related to the mountain pine beetle infestation will be presented during March 2 and March 16 seminars hosted by the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. The 4 p.m. presentations by graduate research assistants will be in room 204E of the Classroom Building.

2016 Merit Badge Midway
March 4-5
South Daktoa Mines will host the annual Merit Badge Midway for the Black Hills Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Scouts are invited to campus to earn merit badges in Chemistry & Composite Materials, Electronics & Energy, Metalwork, Mining in Society, Search & Rescue, Game Design, Cooking, and approximately 40 other topics.

Cultural Expo
March 31 & April 2
Teachers and students are invited to the 2016 Cultural Expo, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Thursday, March 31, in the King Center. The annual event celebrates the cultural diversity of more than forty countries and cultures represented by Mines students. Cultural foods and entertainment will be offered Saturday, April 2, when the Expo is open to the public in the ballroom.

Dino Extravaganza at the Museum
Saturday, April 2
South Dakota Mines is hosting its eighth annual Dinosaur Extravaganza from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Museum of Geology. Museum staff and the student Paleontology Club will lead hands-on activities about dinosaurs and their environment. All ages welcome. Free admission.

Nano Expo: Small-Scale Technology

The 2016 Nano Expo will showcase how small-scale technology can make a big impact. SD Mines nanoscience and nanoengineering PhD students will present research and be available to answer questions. Extreme CAMPing Demos

The public is invited Main Street Square for an unveiling of the university's CAMP models from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Student teams from the Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing & Production will demonstrate their 2016 competitive models, including the Formula race car and Baja, unmanned aerial and alternative fuel vehicles.

5K Run to Benefit Girls Inc.

The SD Mines Chemical & Biological Engineering speaker series will feature speakers from NASA, Princeton, Stanford, and Pacific Northwest Laboratory on topics including biomedical engineering, biofuels, and nanoscale materials for sustainable energy.
