NASA Quantum Computing Project
Thursday, April 7, 4 p.m.

SD Mines physicist Andre Petukhov, PhD, will lead a presentation on NASA's experiment with Google and Universities Space Research Association to assess the potential of quantum computers to perform calculations otherwise difficult or impossible with conventional supercomputers.

Nanoscale Systems: Atomic-Scale Imaging Lecture
Thursday, April 7, 4 p.m.

Jeff Guest, PhD, a physicist with the Argonne National Laboratory will present a nanoscience and engineering seminar on "Atomic-scale imaging of optically-active nanoscale systems." He will discuss his specific research on optical interactions and photophysical processes in nanoscale systems.

Nano Expo: Students Showcase Small-Scale Technology
Saturday, April 9, 1-3 p.m.

The 2016 Nano Expo will showcase how small-scale technology can make a big impact. SD Mines nanoscience and nanoengineering PhD students will present research and be available to answer questions. The eighth annual event will be in the Surbeck Center Bump lounge. Free admission.

Extreme CAMPing Demos
Saturday, April 16, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The public is invited to Main Street Square for an unveiling of the university's CAMP models. Student teams from the Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing & Production will offer demonstrations of their 2016 competitive models, including alternative fuel vehicle, concrete canoe, Formula racing, Mini Baja, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Scientists Discuss World's Highest Intensity Neutrino Beam
Wednesday, May 18, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Students and teachers are invited to SD Mines for a public presentation from scientists collaborating on the international Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment involving the world's highest intensity beam 800 miles long between the Sanford Laboratory in Lead and the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory near Chicago. A social hour and activities will precede the presentation.
