Good morning Hardrockers,
I wanted to bring to your attention an academic standard change that has been made. (NOTE: This policy mostly impacts Freshmen and Sophomore students)
In the past, "Good Academic Standing" was defined/dictated by the SDBOR by the number of credits attempted, meaning, that from 0-44.99 credits ATTEMPTED, a student would need a minimum GPA of a 1.8 to be in good academic standing. Those who attempt 45+ credits, must be at a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
After the FA25 semester, students will need to always be above a 2.0 cumulative GPA to be in good academic standing, regardless of the number of credits attempted.
This is pertinent for some of our struggling students, and I'll be sending out notice to all our athletes regarding the change.
So as of now, at the beginning of the semester, if an athlete has attempted less than 45 credits, and is currently at a 1.8, they will be eligible for the semester BUT will need to be at a 2.0 (CUMULATIVE GPA) at the beginning of the SP26 semester to be athletically eligible.
Have a great day,
Seth
