Shaun Herrod has made significant progress in his rehabilitation at
Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital and his time there has been extended by
two weeks (from the original departure date of July 31 to August 14).
Although slow and labored he is putting sentences together and they are
working with him to stand. Shaun and his family are encouraged and
optimistic.
When released from the rehabilitation center in Nebraska he will return
to Rapid City. He will most likely locate at an assisted living center
until he can move home and he will participate in out patient therapy
through Rapid City Regional.
Shaun's family is still in need of any financial resources that we can
provide them and donations are still being accepted through the
Foundation. They are extremely appreciative of the on-going financial
and caring support by members of the School of Mines Community.

Subject: Update on Shaun Herrod
Good Morning:
We have received word that Shaun is to be transported to the Madonna
Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE today. Although this is great
news, Shaun still has a very long recovery ahead of him. He is slowly
improving each day and the move to a rehabilitation hospital that
specializes in debilitating brain injuries will hopefully speed his
improvement. Shaun's family is still in need of any financial resources
that we can provide them and donations are still being accepted through
the Foundation.
Thanks again to all that have helped Shaun and his family through this
difficult time and please continue to keep them in your thoughts.
